Smoked Fish

Chinese Grandma Yu’s visit to see her granddaughter in the UK is disrupted when she is racially attacked and beaten to the ground. Family members come together to help each other understand and recover from this traumatising incident.

A short film written and directed by Jenny Xueer Wan, Smoked Fish is a tender family portrait about racism, identity, and human connections. A story that the world needs right now.

It is a film made by, made for , and funded by the ESEA community. Followed by a successful crowdfunding campaign, Smoked Fish features a diverse and talented cast and crew who helped bring this heartwarming story to life. 

Currently still in festival circuit, official selection The Poppy Jasper International Film Festival, Beeston Film Festival.
